On the Point – Update

In a couple of days, On the Point will be 90 days in foal to To Honor & Serve. Her pregnancy is progressing nicely. I visited her on May 28th and found her in the paddock true to form with her head stuck deep in a round bale of hay! She never misses an opportunity to eat and especially when she is eating for two. Her healthy appetite is one thing she passes on to her foals compliments of Point Given who is known for his voracious appetite. Below is a picture of Dream ( On the Point) caught in the act!

Defining Hope wins the Swifty Sired Stakes- May 24, 2017

Defining Hope and Malcolm Franklin won the Swifty Sired Stakes on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.  She won the 6 F race with such authority and professionalism and seemed to just float down the field. She commanded respect as she opened up a 9 1/2 length lead from the rest of the field at the wire. Hope is amazing to watch and I’m blessed to have such a wonderful filly and such a great team behind her. A big thanks to Malcolm and Barb and her team.  Below are paddock pictures and article.

Uphold Training Update- May 2017

I am told that Gabe ( Uphold) is doing well with his training. He is jogging 6 F and galloping a mile and a quarter. He was quickened on May 20th, May 24th and May 27th and did well. Dermot says that Uphold is showing the same family grittiness as his half sibling, Defining Hope and describes Uphold as a very straight forward horse who enjoys his job. We should know more by the end of June on when they anticipate him shipping to the track. Due in part to his large size and the fact that he is a May foal, Uphold has been afforded extra time to develop and will be a late season starter.

Hope’s Season Debut- May 3, 2017

Hope ran a 6F allowance race on May 3, 2017 and  was the only 3 yr old in a field  of older horses ages 4 and 5.  I was proud of her for she ran a good race and placed for the first time on a sloppy track against older horses. Way to go Hope! Below is a picture of her in the post parade.

Derby Day- May 6, 2017

I’m so Happy- It’s Derby Day! I look forward to Derby Day every year like I look forward to Christmas! Family  and Friends gather to place bets, eat and enjoy the race and race trivia.

This year, I was the lucky one who randomly selected Always Dreaming from the hat and won the 1st place wager. No, I swear it wasn’t fixed!  Always Dreaming ran quite a race in the mud. Congrats to his connections and to Todd Pletcher and John Velasquez.

My youngest daughter, Rachel, who is majoring in Telecommunications, decided to put together a video of the highlights from the party. I will inlcude a link to the video in the near future. Stay tuned…. but, in the meantime, check out the pictures below.
