Point Given’s Legacy

Seems like just yesterday when a certain big red colt caught my fascination while visiting Three Chimney’s Farm. Besides wowing me with his ability on the track, I always felt a certain connection to him.

Several years later, when I came across a 3 yr. old Point Given daughter ( On the Point ), at a rehab farm in Northeastern Ohio, I knew there had to be a divine purpose. On the Point, was a big mare and she exuded the same confidence of her sire, which drew me in immediately. She had been injured as a 2 yr. old in training, so she and I were going to start her second career together as a broodmare.

Even though On the Point’s claim to fame wasn’t on the track, she is staking her claim in the breeding shed and has been my foundation mare since 2010.  In the span of 13 years, she has created a hard knocking female family.  Of the three horses to race thus far, she has produced two- time Indiana Champion filly and G1 Producer, Defining Hope,  8 yr. old  and recently retired, war horse and stakes winner Uphold, and 4 yr. old stakes placed Everything’s Rosy.  On the Point also has a yearling filly out of Prayer for Relief, named Bold Prayer.

On the Point is a grand mare of 3 yr. old G1 winner of the Ashland, Defining Purpose,  2 yr. old Runhappy filly, Defining Joy, and a weanling Csaba filly.

Point Given has provided so much to me and my family by passing along his grit, determination, and talent to his offspring through his daughter, On the Point. Like many of the great stallions, they live on through their daughters.

As for me and On the Point, we will continue Point Given’s Legacy.

Rest in Peace PG. You will be sorely missed.
