Once again it was tradition to hold a Derby party at my house. This year, the adults enjoyed a bourbon tasting with the favorite being a mixed drink of bourbon cream and Not Your Father’s Root Beer. If you like Root Beer floats, this smooth combo comes pretty close and is absolutely awesome! Move over Mint Julep, there’s a new sheriff in town!
As is the tradition, red carpet pics were in order. The temperature was close to 80 degrees and gorgeous. Truly, it was one of the prettiest Derby Day’s I can remember in a long time.
This year, I dressed up in 1915 style to commemorate Regret’s win in the 1915 Derby 100 years prior, marking the anniversary of the first filly to win the Derby. This year also marked the 20th anniversary of Thunder Gulch’s derby win in 1995. Thunder Gulch is On The Point’s grandfather. He was pensioned earlier this year from stud service and is now enjoying the easy life of retirement.
